{"id":1795,"date":"2011-04-11T10:36:07","date_gmt":"2011-04-11T17:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theeduca.mywhc.ca\/?p=424"},"modified":"2011-04-11T10:36:07","modified_gmt":"2011-04-11T17:36:07","slug":"424-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ashlarcollege.ca\/ashlar-archived\/424-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Choose the Happier Thought"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Choose the Happier Thought<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next time you&#8217;re faced with a challenging situation that gives rise to negative thoughts and bad feelings, find an <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>equally true<\/em><\/span> thought about the situation that makes you feel better and lean into it.<\/p>\n<p>This doesn&#8217;t mean that you deny the negative it just says that you pay more attention to the positive part of the truth.<\/p>\n<p>The classic measure of optimism, seeing the glass half full rather than half empty, is the perfect example of leaning into the <em>equally true<\/em><em> <\/em>but happier thought.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a real life example:\u00a0 Have you ever been on a deadline and thought, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;I can&#8217;t get this done on<\/em><em>time&#8221;?<\/em><\/span> The next time you are having this type of negative, self defeating thought, search your mind for positive thoughts that are equally true.<\/p>\n<p>Such as <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;I always manage to get things done&#8221;
