The Bridge Builder<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A poem; written by Will Allen Dromgoole.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

An old man, going down a lone highway,<\/p>\n

Came to the evening, cold & grey,<\/p>\n

To a chasm, vast and deep and wide,<\/p>\n

Through which was flowing a sullen tide.<\/p>\n

The old man crossed in the twilight dim,<\/p>\n

The sullen tide had no fears for him;<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But he turned, when he reached the other side,<\/p>\n

And built a Bridge to span the tide.<\/p>\n

“Old Man” said a fellow pilgrim near,<\/p>\n

You are wasting strength in building here.<\/p>\n

Your journey will end in the coming day,<\/p>\n

You never again must pass this way.<\/p>\n

You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide,<\/p>\n

Why build you a Bridge at the eventide?”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The builder lifted his old grey head<\/p>\n

“Good Friend, in the path I have come”, he said<\/p>\n

“There followeth after me today<\/p>\n

A youth whose feet must pass this way.<\/p>\n

This chasm that has been naught to me<\/p>\n

To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be.<\/p>\n

He too, must cross in the twilight dim;<\/p>\n

Good Friend, I am building this Bridge for him”<\/p>\n

Comment<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

In reading this Poem you, the reader, may have gained a better idea as to WHY<\/strong> the Educator exists.<\/p>\n
