{"id":34,"date":"2003-09-01T19:37:59","date_gmt":"2003-09-02T02:37:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theeduca.mywhc.ca\/?p=34"},"modified":"2003-09-01T19:37:59","modified_gmt":"2003-09-02T02:37:59","slug":"yabuts-a-masonic-gem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ashlarcollege.ca\/ashlar-archived\/yabuts-a-masonic-gem\/","title":{"rendered":"Yabuts &#038; A Masonic Gem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fraternal Greetings Brethren.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A THOUGHT TO PONDER ON<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I hear someone presenting something NEW or DIFFERENT, I remember this paper I received some time ago.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully we are all able to identify;\u00a0 act accordingly &amp; stay positive with an open mind!!!!!!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">YABUTS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>YABUTS are monstrous little beasts that inhabit the meetings and conversations that take place all over our Fraternity. A YABUT\u2019s purpose in life is to sap the team of it\u2019s competitive strength by killing any new ideas or creative approaches as soon as they are suggested.<\/p>\n<p>They do this by grabbing someone\u2019s tongue and making them say things like:-<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYABUT\u201d we tried that three years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYABUT\u201d we\u2019ve never done it like that before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYABUT\u201d Grand Lodge would never go along with it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYABUT\u201d The Brethren would never buy into that kind of idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYABUT\u201d They (the Ubiquitous \u201c THEY\u201d who control the World &amp; Masonry) won\u2019t\u00a0 let us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYABUT\u201d It might not work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYABUT\u201d It won\u2019t work here.<\/p>\n<p>Be aware that when these YABUTS crawl onto the table during a meeting, or swoop down into a Lodge Room conversation, they don\u2019t look monstrous at all. Often, they adopt the appearance of a cute, cuddly, perfectly acceptable, or even helpful contribution to the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>But if these YABUTS are not recognized and stomped out right away, they usually succeed in their deadly, negative missions.<\/p>\n<p>The flow of ideas soon changes from:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201c This is how we can make it work\u201d<\/span> TO \u201c<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How can we make this work\u201d and all the reasons it won\u2019t work, and therefore not worth trying.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A MASONIC GEM<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Masonry is no mere luxury of reminiscence. It has grown out of the past, but it transforms the present and enlarges and brightens the prospects of the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c True Masonry is neither an investment in finance nor an insurance against pecuniary need: it is not a refuge for the improvident, the unsuccessful or the incompetent: it makes no promise of world preferment or social advantage. But it is an investment in self-betterment, social service and good fellowship, also an insurance against lack of friends and isolation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the Bulgarian valley, in the early morning, before the dew has disappeared, people travel nine miles to gather 50,000 roses, which, when properly treated, make only one ounce of the attar of roses.<\/p>\n<p>Let us be patient as we build a finer and better world, never get tired or quit. \u201c In due season we shall reap if we faint not\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Written by M.W.Bro.
