The Mission of Freemasonry

This beautiful piece arrived on my computer today and I am privileged to share it with you.

Frequently Freemasonry is described as the building of the Ideal Temple of Humanity, and this would appear to be an apt description of the mission of the Craft.

It does not exist to combat any particular cult, or to propagate any precise dogma.

It does not exist merely for social fellowship, nor is it constituted on the basis of a benevolent society.

It has no religious creed, yet religion forms it’s foundation and crowns it’s endeavours.

It is in reality the evolution and growth of centuries, and to which all nations and peoples have made contributions.

The Mission of Freemasonry is the building of the “Ideal Temple” and he is the true Mason who helps to build it.

He has to build himself into a worthy structure and thereby contribute to the building of humanity.

To fulfill the purpose of our lives, and worthily to embody the principles of Freemasonry in our character and conduct is the main business of every Mason.

Freemasonry gives no economic lesson but says to all who take it’s obligations:

“Act on the Square with your neighbour. Let your moral life be what it ought to be. Imprint in your heart the sacred dictates of TRUTH, HONOUR & VIRTUE”

W.Bro. H.H.Webster, Mount Moriah Lodge No 102 GL of BC&Y

Looking at Life and Getting Paid

This is another gem that I want to share with you.

Many of us look at Life as work. We approach it and try to handle it like a job. We complain about it. We blame others when it is not working. We hold someone else responsible when it does not give us what we want. Some of us give up on Life. We move from day to day, with no plan, no goals and ultimately with no rewards.

We fail to understand that if life is work, the better we do it, the better it will pay us.

When we perform our tasks to the very best of our ability we receive just rewards for what we do. When we are thorough in our work and put our best into it, we become better at it. When we become too good for where we are, we will be advanced to our rightful place.

The things we must realize about life is it cannot be better until we are better. We cannot get more until we are more. The only thing that can stop our advancement in life is our not being ready to move. It life is work, run it like a multi-million dollar corporation and elect yourself the Chief Executive Officer.

Then and only then can we be entitled to and receive our Master Mason’s Wages.

Thoughts to Ponder

The only limits are, as always, those of vision—James Broughton

If you see a bandwagon, it’s too late – Sir James Goldsmith.

In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life – It goes on——Robert Frost

To get something done a committee should consist of no more than three people, two of whom are absent—Robert Copeland.
