Ashlar Essay 2027 – Call for Papers

Ashlar College of Freemasonry is calling for papers for Masons to give us your opinion on the following one of two questions.

Pick one of the two questions mentioned below and provide a written paper
(use of AI is strictly prohibited).
Give us your thoughts on the question you pick. We are looking for honest opinions or thoughts!

Question #1

(Ashlar-Aligned & Symbolic)
“How does Freemasonry serve as a transformative tool for shaping the inner Ashlar of the Mason, and in what
ways can both new and experienced brethren alike deepen their understanding of its symbolism?”

Question #2

(Membership Growth & Retention Through Ritual)
“How can the ritual within Freemasonry be used to strengthen engagement, deepen belonging, and inspire longterm
commitment among both new and experienced Masons, and what aspects of ritual most contribute to a
thriving and growing lodge?”

Guidelines
Papers are to be no more than 1500 words
12 font and in Times New Roman
Full cover page with your Name, Lodge name and number, jurisdiction, and email.
Double Spaced
APA Cited

Papers will be accepted from November 1 st 2026 to January 31st 2027
